  20. The Spectre GCR manual never makes it clear whether or not one can get
  21. away with using the "Shutdown" menu option in Mac mode (versus just ejecting
  22. the disks).
  23. My advice: DON'T DO IT! I tried it *once* and now my hard drive
  24. is garbled. (Yes, I'm using the new release of the Spectre software. Perhaps
  25. the older software works better.)

  96. Look for Mouse-ka-mania, written by Charles Johnson. It's on terminator
  97. in unindexed/mouseka.arc. Comes with a bunch of animation files already
  98. drawn, plus you can create your own at any time. I grabbed a sequence that
  99. does a spinning globe, it's kinda fun.

  112. Yeah, Minix CAN run UUCP. Well UUPC to be exact, is what I've had working.
  113. Of course, since real UNIX UUCP is available in comp.sources.unix
  114. that can be ported. UUPC works fine though. You can even create a uucp
  115. log in for other people so that they can get their news and mail from
  116. your ST!!!!!

  138. This newsgroup is devoted to discussion about 16 bit Atari micros.  At
  139. present that includes the Atari 520ST, 1040ST, Mega ST, STe, and STacy.
  140. There are also emulators for the Apple Macintosh and IBM XT available.
  141. Finally, there is the Lynx (a game machine) and the Atari TT and ATW.

  152. The most interesting articles are technical articles, impressions of
  153. software/hardware, information on Atari user-groups and shows, or helpful

  157. than...', especially when cross-posted outside of comp.sys.atari.st.  If
  158. you don't know how to eliminate other newsgroups from a reply to an article
  159. which is cross-posted, ask your systems administrator.

  161. 'FOR-SALE' articles should be posted to misc.forsale, and ONLY local
  162. distribution of comp.sys.atari.st.  Those outside the United States have little

  327. TIPS AND HINTS from other users
  328. ===============================

  330. Any 'multisync' monitor which handles 70 video fields a second can be used
  331. with the ST; the custom cable involves no tricks, or commercial ones are
  332. available.  The original NEC multisync does NOT handle 70 fields a sec.
  333.  
  334. More than 3 bombs often means more than 1 error, so interpretations are tricky.
  335.  
  336. An ST-formatted disk which is not readable by a PC can be made readable by
  337. putting the 3 bytes EB 34 90 (those were 3 bytes of hex) at the beginning of
  338. the boot sector (sector 1 of track 0, I believe).  This can be done with
  339. either an ST or PC absolute sector editor.
  340.  
  341. When using disks formatted on a PC in an ST, make sure to insert and access
  342. a disk with a different serial number in between disk changes.
